    Colour Me Happy

Aimee’s sunny Easter Wedding held today was a pleasure to do. The room was filled with hundreds of bonny yellow tulips.

The meaning of tulips is generally ‘Perfect Love’

The meaning of yellow tulips has evolved somewhat, from once representing hopeless love to now being a common expression for cheerful thoughts and sunshine.

The 11th wedding anniversary flower, it’s said that the tulip’s velvety black center represents a lover’s heart, darkened by the heat of passion. With the power to rival roses in their red variety and the sweet charm to express simple joy when yellow, it’s no wonder that in addition to all its other symbolism, in the language of flowers, a tulip bouquet represents elegance and grace.

Ever considered a wedding in Morocco?

On a recent trip to Morocco I had the pleasure of spending a day at Jnane Tamsna which translates as Garden of Paradise – and that’s no lie! Don’t take my word for it, visit their website and be transformed to the serenity of the Moroccan paradise. Celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and British Royalty have paid a visit. I just stayed for a few hours but would return at a heartbeat!!!

    JNANE LIFESTYLE

Jnane hotels and villas offer a lifestyle of serenity and well-being in the Palmeraie and countryside around Marrakech.

The typical Jnane setting is a collection of individual houses spread out in a garden. This gives guests an atmosphere of being at home while providing the comfort and service of a hotel.

Jnane interiors, as developed by Meryanne Loum-Martin over two decades, fuse Oriental, African and European influences and sensibilities. Often referred to as ‘New Moroccan Style’, this involves the use of natural materials, traditional techniques and dark and light textures to create a sense of harmony.

Jnane gardens – the creation of Gary Martin – are lush edible landscapes that draw inspiration from Arab-Andalous horticultural traditions. Organic and water-efficient, they provide an array of fresh produce for Jnane’s dinner tables as well as a peaceful environment for relaxation and reflection.

    JNANE TAMSNA

Set in nine landscaped acres within a private estate, Jnane Tamsna offers a total of 24 ensuite bedrooms spread over three properties: Jnane House, Jnane Moussafir and Jnane Salmia. There are two large and two small meeting rooms as well as numerous sitting rooms, dining areas and outdoor spaces. The grounds feature five pools, a clay surface tennis court, a hammam (Moroccan steam bath) and treatment rooms for massage and beauty therapy.

Jnane Tamsna adopts a minimalist approach to Oriental splendour. Elements of traditional Moroccan style and colour have been adapted to achieve a peaceful, contemporary look. The cuisine is a fusion of Moroccan and modern European, using local produce sourced wherever possible from Jnane Tamsna’s organic gardens.

From individual rooms to exclusive villa rental, Jnane Tamsna offers a rare flexibility. As a private or corporate venue, it blends the large capacity usually only offered by hotels and the absolute intimacy, first-class food and fine service of the best private homes.

    JNANE SALMIA

For the ultimate in escapism Jnane Salmia is a fully staffed, privately owned luxury villa located in the tranquil area of the Palmeraie, a short drive from the centre of Marrakech.

The main house has five stunning bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and balconies overlooking the gardens. The smaller house or Pavillion has two suites comprising bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, with an outdoor sitting room between the suites for evening dining or daytime relaxation. Each house has its own swimming pool and private garden and there is a tennis court available for all guests.Jnane Salmia is perfect for a large family group or party of friends, but it is also possible to rent either the house or the pavillion separately.

Both houses are surrounded by luxuriant gardens of olive trees, bougainvillea, rosemary, lavender and jasmine, where beautiful meals are served at tables covered in white roses prepared exclusively for you by the resident chef. Cooking is a fusion of Moroccan and European cuisine and can be tailored to your needs, using home grown and organic produce from the gardens whenever possible. Evening drinks can be served on the roof of the house from where the distant Atlas mountains can be seen or in the scented garden at dusk surrounded by candles.

Special events can always be accommodated on request, including wedding parties or a milestone birthday celebration. For parties of more than 14 to 18 people, further rooms can always be arranged with our neighbouring property Jnane Tamsna, where we can offer up to 17 more bedrooms in 3 beautiful houses.

Camel riding, hot air ballooning, golf, quad biking and the essential souk guides can all be booked for you, as can airport transfers and taxis during your stay

    GARDENS

The grounds of Jnane Tamsna are a natural paradise of aromatic herb gardens, olive groves, lemon trees, date palms, vegetable gardens and ornamental flower beds. The landscape architecture is inspired by North African agricultural and horticultural traditions.

Within the houses, there are ‘ryads’ or interior patio gardens that are reservoirs of fresh air and drifting natural scents. Pools – appearing like basins – are surrounded by ‘bustans’ of aromatic plants and fragrant white flowers. Jnane Tamsna’s organic fruits and vegetables come from the ‘arsat’ orchard gardens that combine a date palm canopy, a grove of fruit trees and alternating patches of forage and food plants.

Covering nearly nine hectares, the gardens are completely organic with traditional groundwater flow and more contemporary drip irrigation. The cultivated spaces are accessed by pathways and terraces festooned with gardenia, jasmine and white bougainvillea

    EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

There are plenty of ways to while away your time at Jnane Tamsna. You can play tennis. Book a yoga session. Have a massage or reflexology treatment.

Dotted around the grounds are five swimming pools. Outside the gates, the Palmeraie’s several kilometre-long pathways are perfect for a morning jog or cycle ride. Fifteen minutes drive will bring you to riding stables and a choice of three golf courses.

Jnane Tamsna is the perfect venue for special events. Dance parties, dinners, corporate events and weddings can be organized all year round in the high-ceilinged interiors, on the spacious verandas or in the aromatic gardens.

It is about conceiving a place which blends with the soul of the local culture while giving it a fresh perspective. In this sense Jnane is about respect for natural materials, traditions, local communities and the environment.
